Aquaponics farming is getting increasingly popular for many reasons. Aquaponics is but one element of a massive cultural shift that brings nutritious food nearer to the people and recreates culture around food.
It is more important than ever to use methods of food cultivation that are sustainable and safe and results in food that is healthy and contamination free. Aquaponics, when combined with controlled agricultural environment, is used to grow huge amounts of high quality, fresh food in small spaces in an environment-friendly way. Applied in backyard gardens or commercial use, aquaponics is at the forefront of a new trend of sustainable agriculture.
Open Source Education
At Outdoor Aquaponics, we believe that a gardener should have a source of useful information and guides to become empowered and successful. We use this site to educate individuals every way we can think of. We also run a greatest aquaponics newsgroup, which is an incredibly dynamic source of info and conversation. We frequently publish posts on our site and we put out a hint of the day in print magazines, and new video insights are offered by our Aquaponic youtube channel.
Why outsource our food, when we can grow it at home?
Outdoor Aquaponics value studying, learning and collaborating. We take every opportunity we can to learn from the innovators in aquaponics, aquaculture, controlled environment agriculture, wastewater treatment, food safety, renewable energy and the like. Since we have experience in curriculum development and education, we’re passionate to help others learn more about aquaponics, from home systems to an aquaponics farm revolution. We are working on some new stuff and video content to expand that reach even more and have had the joy of training over hundreds of people from all over the world. Being a farmer may be one of the main occupations that help shape and secure the future of individuals and our planet.
The more you know, the further you grow.
Culture is the root word for agriculture. It is now time to reconnect these notions. All these are only a few of the reasons why we feel that growing food, growing thoughts, and growing community are important and why we’re blessed each day to do such a fulfilling job.
We started Outdoor Aquaponics to help further aquaponics, not just for home hobbyists, but also to create and demonstrate that aquaponics can be financially sustainable, socially and environmentally. We are looking forward to the contribution to both local as well as global food solutions.
